Meeting Attendance Bursaries

The application portal is expected to open in January 2022.

Meeting sponsorship is now being sought.  Further information shall be added to this page concerning the provision of attendance bursaries to help relieve the financial burdens of eligible attendees. Such funds will be administered on the basis of reasonable partial costs on a reimbursement basis.

Eligible applicants could include research students, people of low or lower-middle income countries (as shown at this list), individuals among some underrepresented groups, and people experiencing low incomes during the year of the event. Details of pertinent provisions for disabled scientists +/- their carers, and child / dependent care shall be provided where possible.

External  bursary sources

Please plan ahead. Potential delegates are, in the first instance, encouraged to access meeting attendance monies where available to them on active grants or funded studentships. Where this is not possible interested parties may be eligible to access meeting attendance funds or dependent care support through this event, or via some professional societies such as those linked below:

Where external bursary schemes may currently be closed potential applicants could consider contacting the administering body to enquire as to a possible re-opening date. This list is by no means exhaustive and interested parties should consult with the intuitions or professional bodies of which they are members, or converse with supervisors, mentors, and supportive colleagues to enquire about possible alternative meeting attendance funds.

Details of specific schemes administered by the organising team, and the templates for application documents, will be made available here soon. Successful applicants for meeting access bursaries should be aware that these monies are generally administered on a reimbursement basis upon the presentation of receipts during or after the event. If raised during an application for bursary support, exceptional cases of financial hardship where reimbursement may not be practical may be considered and discussed.

We are thankful to the Royal Astronomical Society for its support of meeting access bursaries to help with reasonable costs incurred by eligible delegates presenting work at the inaugural Forming and Exploring Habitable Worlds meeting.
